Customer Focus
Pastramis New York Eatery - Tacoma, WA. Like many shops, Pastramis has a website which lets people know where they are, but there was no way to actually order anything. What this does is drive people to come in to the shop, which is good, but it just adds to the overcrowding that plagues shops during lunchtime. eDeli Ordering brought Mike a way to keep his menu updated dynamically (meaning that he can do it easily himself) and, more importantly, his customers now had a way to order food from the web. This helps to eleviate the crowding problem because they view, order and pay before they ever come down.
What this has done is to allow them to service more customers, without just trying to cram more people into his shop, by driving some of the workload to before the usual lunch rush. Customers order their food early allowing Pastramis to better plan the work. This is accomplished due to a couple of things.
- First, when given the option to get the whole ordering lunch thing out of the way, people like to use the system to save themselves time. They get more of their lunch time to themselves.
- Second, Mike has configured his system to give a discount to customers if they order before a certain time of day so that he can offset some of the workload to a less busy time (before the rush starts). We call it the "Early Bird Special".
